EMDR Consultation – Online from anywhere

Elaine Moss is an EMDR Certified Therapist and an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training providing EMDR Consultation

EMDR consultation is for clinicians who have been trained in EMDR.

EMDR training can be overwhelming. In other words, it can feel like trying to drink from a fire hose. On one hand, you get so much out of it, but on the other hand, it seems like you missed so much. Even when your training includes the chance to demonstrate the skills and get feedback, it's not enough. That is to say that EMDR training is really just the tip of the iceberg. There's so much involved with feeling comfortable and competent. In short, consultation can help you feel confident enough to practice EMDR with clients.

Why do EMDR Consultation?

Clinicians can participate in consultation for multiple reasons, including:

  • General consultation on using EMDR
  • Get feedback on EMDR skills
  • Build confidence in using EMDR
  • Master the EMDR standard protocol
  • Complete EMDR basic training consultation hours
  • Gain consultation hours toward EMDRIA Certification

What to expect in EMDR consultation

The primary focus is to help clinicians master the standard EMDR protocol. Above all, consultation gives clinicians a chance to discuss cases, demonstrate skills, and deepen their knowledge.

Consultation topics may include:

  • Describing the AIP model
  • Explaining EMDR's 8-phase, 3-prong approach
  • How to know when clients are ready for processing
  • Understanding your client's window of tolerance
  • How to pick a target
  • Assessments to use with EMDR
  • Resource examples
  • Sample clinical documentation
  • Considerations for online vs. in-person sessions
  • Case presentation and review

Note: Consultation is not supervision. Your consultation hours cannot be used for supervision toward licensure.

Group vs. Individual

Depending on your needs and preferences, your consultation hours may be done individually or in a group. Certainly, both have their benefits. Individual consultation allows you to go deeper. You'll get more time focused on your skills, cases, and feedback. While group consultation is not only less expensive, but also allows you to see other clinicians in action.

Consultation Rates

  • Group Consultation: $80 per hour
  • Individual Consultation: $200 per hour
